Westmere Academy is the perfect school. Students with impeccable pedigrees, time honored school traditions, distinguished graduates….all that one would expect from an elite institution. Yet, despite the academy’s reputation, all is not well. Strange happenings have been disturbing the tranquility of Westmere. An ancient evil is haunting the school’s hallowed halls.
Into this dark atmosphere steps Sarah Breen, a fourth-year transfer student and an unwelcome outsider at Westmere. Persecuted by her fellow students and attacked by the evil powers descending on Westmere, Sarah faces danger from all sides. An old library and a mysterious book seem to offer the key to the mystery. But who or what is behind it all? Will Sarah be strong enough to overcome the stigma as the “The School Witch” and solve the mystery before it’s too late?
This is the debut Young Adult Novel by Author Kerry Marie Sloan.

I was loaned this book by a friend. As a senior citizen I'm not into wizards, etc. so I was not expecting to enjoy it. However, I found it to be an easy read and really liked the fact that the main character was an adventurous female. The characters were believable - who hasn't met a few shy youngsters, old grumps and scary people in their lifetime. The hint of more adventures to come was also a nice touch. Glad I read it. - Amazon Customer
I don't normally read YA, but I greatly enjoyed The Book of Westmere. It definitely reminded me of some of the books I read as a child, especially those by John Bellairs and Madeleine L'Engle. Reading it as a former Children's Librarian, it could be safely given to most younger readers (12 and up), without having to worry that some of the content might not be appropriate. A motivated younger reader could also enjoy it, especially if they're a fan of L'Engle, Montgomery, or Alcott. Altogether a very good story with engaging characters - I particularly liked the discussion of good and evil, which were reminiscent of L'Engle's work. - Erin S.
This was a great book me and my boyfriend Troy Hood enjoyed this book and would not mind reading it again - Melissa Gonzalez
